Nigerian boxer Segun Olanrewaju dies after collapsing in Ghanaian ring

Nigerian boxing star Segun “Success” Olanrewaju has tragically passed away after collapsing mid-fight during a professional bout in Ghana.

The 40-year-old former West African light-heavyweight champion was competing against Ghanaian boxer Jon Mbanugu on Saturday at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra when he suddenly lost consciousness.

Olanrewaju, who had been leading on points in the match, was engaging in an intense but competitive contest before the shocking incident unfolded. Medical personnel swiftly intervened, but efforts to revive him proved unsuccessful.

A widely circulated video of the fight captured the moment of his collapse, sending waves of grief across the boxing community in Nigeria and beyond.
