On Saturday, Manchester City faced Chelsea, who began the day in fourth place in the Premier League standings.
The Blues had a nightmare start, conceding to Noni Madueke’s strike just three minutes into the match. Chelsea nearly doubled their lead on nine minutes, but Cole Palmer’s decision to square the ball to Nicolas Jackson allowed the City defense to recover and clear the danger.
City found their equalizer just before halftime through Josko Gvardiol, a goal that proved pivotal in shifting momentum.
After the break, City took control. Erling Haaland’s brilliant chip from an Ederson long pass put the hosts ahead in the 68th minute. Haaland then turned provider, setting up Phil Foden to secure the victory with a composed finish in the 87th minute.
The win solidified City’s position in the league as Chelsea missed an opportunity to strengthen their top-four credentials.
