The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Okaikwei Central, Sadiq Abudulai Abu, popularly known as Baba Sadiq, has defeated the incumbent Member of Parliament, Patrick Yaw Boamah, in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
According to the Electoral Commission’s Returning Officer, Baba Sadiq secured 15,383 votes out of 30,332 valid ballots cast, narrowly edging out his main opponent, Patrick Yaw Boamah of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who polled 14,949 votes.
Baba Sadiq’s victory marks a significant political milestone, having officially launched his career as a parliamentary hopeful for the NDC in the Okaikwei Central Constituency.

His involvement in the party’s affairs has been notable, particularly in the tourism, arts, and culture sector. Ahead of the 2020 elections, he contributed to drafting the arts and tourism section of the NDC manifesto and played a key role as a spokesperson on arts-related issues.
