Bukom Banku beats alleged girlfriend in public

Veteran Ghanaian boxer, Briamah Kamoko, also known as Bukom Banku, is once again in the spotlight for his violent behavior towards women, despite a court warning seven years ago.

Bukom Banku has been captured in a viral video exchanging punches with a woman, who is allegedly his girlfriend.

Known for his tendency to lash out at individuals he feels have disrespected him, Bukom Banku had previously admitted to this behavior during an interview with Delay. On the show, he openly confessed to physically assaulting the women in his life for dishonoring him.

The incident has sparked outrage among netizens, with many calling for immediate legal action against the boxer. Details of the recent altercation remain unclear.

Martha Nelson, a hairdresser and complainant, brought another assault case against the boxer in 2016. Banku was reported to have slapped the hairdresser, who lives at Chorkor in Accra, twice on August before punching her on the right ribs.

The subsequent year, a judge of an Accra Central District Court  issued a stern warning to controversial boxer, Briamah Kamoko aka Bukom Banku, to stop beating women.

Justice Arit Nsemoh told the maverick boxer that when in public he should be a gentleman and good example to the youth.

“Make sure when you go out, you are a perfect gentleman; you have to be a good example; teach the young that people don’t beat women…,” Justice Nsemoh admonished.

She explained that per Banku’s profession, he ought not to beat women, adding that “when you come [before the court] again, you are in trouble.”
