GHC20,000 bounty placed on man captured with weapon during Mamobi clash

The Ghana Police Service has placed a GHC 20,000 bounty on the head of Fatau Motorway, a man wanted in connection with the violent clash between New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters at Mamobi, Accra, on October 13, 2024.

Fatau Motorway, who was reportedly seen carrying a gun during the altercation, remains at large as police intensify their manhunt. The confrontation left nine people injured.

In a statement, the police called on the public to assist with efforts to apprehend the suspect, promising a reward for any information that leads to his arrest.

“The Police are offering GHC 20,000 to anyone who provides credible information that leads to the arrest of Fatau Motorway. We urge anyone with relevant details to come forward,” the police urged in their appeal.

The cause of the clash remains unclear, though eyewitnesses reported that a disagreement between rival political supporters quickly escalated into violence. So far, one individual has been arrested in connection with the incident, and the police are actively pursuing other suspects to ensure they face justice.

The authorities have vowed to ensure that all those involved in the Mamobi violence are held accountable.
