In a stroke of unusual fortune, “dumsor” (power outage) proved to be a blessing in disguise for residents of Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region as an electricity pole toppled during a heavy downpour, narrowly missing a newly acquired Mercedes-Benz in motion.
The incident occurred as strong winds and rainfall lashed the area, causing the high voltage distribution pole to collapse onto the road.
Fortunately, due to the power outage, the area was plunged into darkness, sparing any potential casualties from the falling pole.

Meanwhile, in another related incident, a person is reported to be in critical condition after a tree fell on a motorcycle and a 4-wheel drive vehicle elsewhere in the region. The heavy rainfall in the Accra Airport area wreaked havoc, causing numerous trees to split and damaging cars parked nearby.
The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) issued weather warnings due to the ongoing heavy rainfall in the southern part of the country. Originating from a storm observed over southern Togo, the rain moves westward and affected areas in southern Ghana.
