A disturbing video has surfaced on social media, revealing the ill-treatment of Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang III, the Kwahu Abetifihene, along with violent clashes that erupted as local youth confronted the group responsible for mistreating the chief.
The conflict took place on Thursday, November 7, when a faction led by Obaapanyin Yaa Asantewaa attempted to destool Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang III, who also serves as the acting President of the Kwahu Traditional Area.
Yaa Asantewaa, claiming to be the Abrewatia (chief’s wife), reportedly arrived with an entourage in Abetifi, escorting the acting President to an older palace where she performed traditional destoolment rites, including the ritual slaughter of a sheep.
During the process, Akyemfour Asiedu Agyemang III was forced to sit on the ground and was warned to remain silent. After receiving some hits, Yaa Asantewaa instructed her group not to harm him further.
