Concerns over the integrity of electoral materials have surfaced following reports that seals on a bag containing ballot papers for Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region were allegedly broken, with visible signs of tampering on the zip.
The incident came to light on Friday during the dispatch of ballot papers to various districts from the Eastern Regional Police Command. The Electoral Commission (EC) had previously assured political parties and the public that the seals, including those from all political parties and the Commission itself, are critical safeguards to ensure transparency and prevent tampering during the electoral process.
Videos showing the tampered bag have since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread alarm. Many users on Platform X (formerly Twitter) have raised concerns about the implications of the incident and have called on the EC to provide immediate clarification to preserve public trust in the election process.
As of this report, the Electoral Commission has not issued an official statement on the matter.
