President John Dramani Mahama has released the third batch of ministerial nominees, featuring prominent names like Samuel Nartey George and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
These appointments are part of the President’s strategy to assemble a robust team to drive his administration’s developmental agenda.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who has been a strong voice in Ghana’s Parliament, has been nominated as Minister for Foreign Affairs. His extensive experience in governance and his expertise in international relations are expected to enhance Ghana’s diplomatic efforts on the global stage.
Meanwhile, Samuel Nartey George, MP for Ningo-Prampram, has been selected to head the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations. Known for his advocacy in the digital and technology space, Sam George’s appointment is seen as a step toward strengthening the country’s digital transformation agenda.
The nominations were forwarded to Parliament for consideration and approval. In a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President, the appointments are described as reflective of President Mahama’s determination to establish a team capable of delivering on his vision for national progress.
Other key appointees include Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah as Minister of Defence, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, and Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak as Minister of Interior.
The President also signaled his commitment to tackling climate issues by naming Issifu Seidu, MP, as Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability. Additionally, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum will oversee Special Initiatives, and Felix Kwakye Ofosu has been appointed Minister of State for Government Communications.
So far, President Mahama has announced a total of 42 ministers and has reiterated his commitment to capping the number at 60. As part of the approval process, Parliament’s Appointments Committee is currently vetting the nominees.
