Dr. Gideon Boako, Spokesperson for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Tano North Constituency, has urged the youth to shun political violence and safeguard peace during the 2024 elections.
Speaking at a peace walk and talk event in Duayaw Nkwanta on Saturday, November 16, Dr. Boako emphasised that “no politician is worth the sacrifice of your blood.”
He advised the youth to prioritise their safety and the well-being of their communities over partisan interests, reminding them that politicians “come and go,” but their future remains paramount.
The event, organised by the Tano North local council of churches, brought together various political parties, traditional chiefs, and community leaders to promote unity and a peaceful electoral process.
Dr. Boako called for harmony, stressing that no political ambition justifies violence or bloodshed. His remarks echoed appeals by key political figures, including presidential candidates Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, John Mahama, and Alan Kyerematen, who have consistently advocated for peaceful elections.
The call for peace follows the loss of lives in the 2020 general elections, with investigations into the incidents still ongoing. As the 2024 polls approach, stakeholders are determined to prevent any recurrence of violence.
Dr Boako also donated a motorbike to the Tano North Local Council of Churches to enhance their operations.
