Motorist killed by Police Yutong bus in Accra

The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation following a fatal accident involving a Police Yutong bus and a motorcyclist at the Tesano Zongo traffic intersection in Accra on the morning of October 30, 2024.

The police bus, with registration number GP 417, collided with a Royal motorbike whose registration number remains unknown.

The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital for emergency medical care but was tragically pronounced dead upon arrival.

Eye witness reports indicate that the tragic incident was caused by the negligence of the police bus which had taken the opposite lane of the Nsawam road, driving against traffic whilst heading towards Nsawam.

Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has reached out to the family of the deceased, offering condolences on behalf of the Ghana Police Service. He also assured the family that the incident will be thoroughly investigated to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.

As investigations are ongoing, further updates are expected from the police on the cause of the crash and any additional findings.
