Mahama begins corruption fight with set up of Ablakwa-led committee

In a decisive step towards fulfilling his 2024 campaign promise to tackle corruption, President-elect John Dramani Mahama has established a committee to oversee the recovery of looted public funds and hold individuals accountable for corruption.

The newly formed team, dubbed Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), will receive and investigate reports of suspected corrupt activities from the public and other sources.

The committee is chaired by Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, with a notable lineup of experts including former Auditor-General Mr. Daniel Domelovo, retired COP Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, private legal practitioner Mr. Martin Kpebu, and investigative journalist Mr. Raymond Archer.

Corruption and the recovery of misappropriated funds were key elements of Mahama’s policy platform during the 2024 elections, and he has committed to taking swift action once he assumes office. The creation of this committee marks the beginning of Mahama’s pledge to combat corruption and ensure those responsible for financial misconduct are held accountable.
