After a dramatic and chaotic session last night, Parliament’s Appointments Committee is set to resume the vetting of ministerial nominees, including Kwabena Mintah Akandoh for Health and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for Foreign Affairs.
Yesterday’s session was abruptly disrupted after a heated disagreement between the Majority and Minority over whether to extend proceedings beyond 10 PM. The Minority strongly opposed the extended sitting, insisting that the session should be adjourned. Tensions quickly escalated, leading to physical confrontations that resulted in broken microphones and overturned tables.
With the situation spiraling out of control, security officers were called in to restore calm. The level of destruction forced the committee to suspend its proceedings and reschedule the vetting of some nominees, which is now set to take place today.
