Lenglet suffers knee and ankle sprains after Espanyol game

Clément Lenglet has suffered sprains to his left knee and ankle, according to tests carried out by the French centre-back after the match against Leganés.

He was forced to leave the match in the 64th minute due to accidental trauma received after Axel Witsel fell on his leg.

The ’15’ rojiblanco suffers from a grade I sprain of the internal collateral ligament of the left knee and a grade I/II sprain of the deltoid ligament of the left ankle.

The French defender will begin physical therapy and rehabilitation work and is awaiting further progress.

Ghanaian forward Inaki Williams was instrumental in Athletic Bilbao’s dominant 4-1 victory over Espanyol, netting twice in the first half on matchday 10 of the Spanish La Liga.

Williams’ brace, alongside goals from Daniel Vivian and Alex Berenguer, secured a comfortable win at San Mames. Bilbao took the lead early when Vivian scored in the sixth minute, assisted by Nico Williams.

In the 28th minute, Inaki Williams doubled the advantage with a close-range finish after a well-timed pass from Alex Berenguer. Two minutes later, he struck again, extending the lead to 3-0, with Berenguer providing another assist.

After halftime, Berenguer added a fourth goal for Athletic, while Espanyol’s Alvaro Tejero managed a late consolation goal.

With his brace, Inaki Williams now has nine career doubles in La Liga and seven goal involvements in 10 games this season.
