LeBron and son make history with first father-son duo

In a historic moment for the NBA, LeBron James and his son Bronny James made history by becoming the first father-son duo to share the court during a pre-season game.

This groundbreaking achievement occurred during the Los Angeles Lakers’ match against the Phoenix Suns, which ended in a 118-114 defeat.

Bronny made his entrance into the game during the second quarter, coinciding with his 20th birthday. This milestone marks a significant moment in basketball, as no father and son have ever played together in an NBA game—pre-season or otherwise.

“Wow, that was surreal,” LeBron expressed on X after the game, reflecting on the unique experience.

When addressing reporters, he elaborated, “We came out of a timeout and we kind of stood next to each other. I kind of looked at him. It was like being in The Matrix or something. It just didn’t feel real. But it was great to have those moments.”

On the night, LeBron showcased his skills, contributing 19 points, four assists, and five rebounds. Meanwhile, Bronny, who played for 13 minutes, did not score but recorded two rebounds and committed four turnovers.

Bronny was drafted as a second-round pick by the Lakers after playing at the University of Southern California and joined the team in June.

At 39 years old, LeBron James continues to solidify his legacy as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and a four-time champion. He is set to embark on his 22nd season in the league, having recently signed a two-year contract with the Lakers following his son’s arrival at the franchise.

The 2024-25 NBA season is set to kick off on October 22, with the Lakers poised to face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves, following the defending champions, the Boston Celtics, who will compete against the New York Knicks.
