Kantamanto Market destroyed by fire

A devastating fire has destroyed Kantamanto Market in Accra’s Central Business District, leaving hundreds of traders displaced and extensive property damage in its wake.

The blaze, which broke out late at night, spread rapidly, reducing numerous shops and stalls to ashes despite the swift response of the Ghana National Fire Service.

Firefighters from across the Greater Accra Region battled the intense flames, but the scale of the inferno overwhelmed efforts to save large sections of the market.

Authorities are yet to determine the cause of the fire, which is still being battled as of Thursday morning.
