I am disappointed we didn’t win, Saka was exceptional – Arteta on Liverpool game

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta voiced his disappointment after a 2-2 draw against Liverpool, despite standout performances from players like Bukayo Saka.

The Gunners took the lead twice, with Saka opening the scoring early and Mikel Merino adding another, but defensive injuries allowed Liverpool to claw back with goals from Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

Speaking after the match, Arteta praised Saka’s performance, especially his return from injury. “After a few weeks off, the way he played and competed was exceptional,” he said, highlighting Saka’s consistency and influence on the game.

However, Arteta expressed frustration over the missed opportunity to secure a victory. “We were the better team, but we couldn’t see the game off,” he lamented.

Arteta acknowledged his side’s strong first-half display, describing it as “total domination,” but pointed out defensive lapses that allowed Liverpool to equalise.

He also spoke about the challenges posed by injuries to the backline and commended his players’ resilience under difficult circumstances. “We’ll continue to adapt,” he added, expressing confidence in the squad’s ability to recover.

The Arsenal boss remained hopeful about the team’s direction, despite the draw, emphasizing that “circumstances are going to make us better” as the season progresses.
