Sean “Diddy” Combs’ mother, Janice Small Combs, has spoken out in defense of her son amid serious legal accusations, insisting that while he has made mistakes, he is not the “monster” the public has been led to believe.

In a heartfelt statement, Ms. Small Combs expressed her devastation over the recent charges against Diddy, which include allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering.

The music mogul, known for hits such as I’ll Be Missing You, is currently being held in a Manhattan detention center after being denied bail.

“It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies,” she said, adding that although her son has “made mistakes in the past, as we all have,” the picture painted of him is far from reality.

Her statement comes as Diddy faces escalating legal challenges, with reports that more than 100 potential lawsuits could be filed against him, accusing him of sexual misconduct and exploitation. His legal team, however, continues to deny these claims, labeling them as “false and defamatory.”

Diddy’s legal woes began last year when his former partner, Cassie Ventura, accused him of rape and abuse. Though he denied the allegations, the case was settled out of court shortly after being filed. Since then, multiple women have come forward with similar accusations, leading to a federal investigation and subsequent criminal charges.

Addressing the leaked 2016 video of Diddy assaulting Ventura in a hotel room, Ms. Small Combs acknowledged the incident but stressed that one mistake does not define her son’s character.

“My son may not have been entirely truthful about certain things, such as denying he has ever gotten violent with an ex-girlfriend when the hotel’s surveillance showed otherwise,” she conceded, adding, “Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story.”

She also suggested that the settlement of Ventura’s lawsuit had been misinterpreted by federal authorities as an admission of guilt, fueling further accusations against her son. Diddy himself had apologized for the incident, saying, “I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now.”

Despite this, Ms. Small Combs stood by her son, insisting that the other accusations against him were lies motivated by financial gain. “One lie does not make him guilty of all the other repulsive allegations and the grave charges leveled against him,” she said.

As Diddy’s legal battle continues, his mother expressed deep sorrow over the speed with which the public turned against him. She emphasized that her son has not been given the opportunity to fully defend himself against the accusations. “It is truly agonizing to watch the world turn against my son so quickly and easily over lies and misconceptions, without ever hearing his side,” she stated.

Diddy’s next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, where his lawyers will once again argue for his release on bail. Prosecutors previously opposed bail, citing concerns that he poses “a significant risk” to the trial, accusing him of attempting to obstruct the investigation by influencing witnesses and spreading false narratives.
