Bayern Munich are set to face VfB Stuttgart on Saturday as they look to bounce back from a winless streak in their last three matches.
Despite recent setbacks, coach Vincent Kompany remains confident that his team is on the right track. Bayern currently sit at the top of the Bundesliga with 14 points, ahead of RB Leipzig on goal difference, but their lead is under threat as they prepare to host an in-form Stuttgart side.
Kompanyโs team has struggled recently, losing 1-0 to Aston Villa in the Champions League and drawing against Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. With a demanding schedule ahead, including a crucial Champions League trip to Barcelona next week, Bayern will need to improve quickly.
“We know we have to do things better but we have 100 percent faith that our way will be successful. Hopefully, we will take the next step in the next game,” Kompany told reporters during a press conference.
The Bavarians were dominant in their matches against Villa and Eintracht but failed to secure wins, drawing 3-3 in Frankfurt after conceding a stoppage-time equalizer.

“I come from Belgium so we are very pragmatic, much like the Germans,” Kompany said, as he reflected on his first season in charge. “It is not only the belief but also what the analyses showed. We were dominant in those games. We had many more chances than our opponents.”
He added, “Of course we have to be better, to optimize, but I believe if we are objective, it would be stupid to change everything just because the results were not right. We will keep fighting to win games, but we are convinced we will win many games in the future.”
Bayern will be without Jamal Musiala, who is recovering from an injury, while defender Dayot Upamecano remains doubtful, according to Kompany.

Stuttgart, who provided six players to the German national team during the international breakโtwice as many as Bayernโcurrently sit eighth in the standings with nine points. Kompany acknowledged the strength of their opponents, who finished as surprise runners-up last season.
“Stuttgart have shown what they want to do,” he said. “They want to play their game and that’s what made them successful. That’s why they were second last season. It shows they have worked really well.”
