Akufo-Addo’s Secretary, Nana Bediatuo, in stable condition – Presidency

The Office of the President has provided an update on the health of Nana Bediatuo Asante, the Secretary to the President, following reports of his illness.

After attending the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York as part of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s delegation, Nana Bediatuo Asante remained in the U.S. to handle additional government business. It was during this time that he began to feel unwell and required hospital admission.

“He then began to feel unwell and was subsequently admitted to hospital,” the Presidency disclosed in a statement.

The statement reassured the public that Nana Bediatuo Asante is in stable condition and making good progress under medical care.

“He is currently in stable condition and responding well to treatment,” the release stated. His recovery is said to be on track, with expectations for a swift return to full health. “Nana Bediatuo Asante’s recovery is on track, and we remain hopeful for his swift return to full strength.”

The Presidency has also requested prayers and support for Nana Bediatuo Asante and his family during this period. “We ask for continued prayers and support for him and his family during this difficult period. Further updates will be provided when necessary.”

In June 2024, Nana Bediatuo Asante was appointed as an Ambassador-at-Large in addition to his role as Secretary to the President. This appointment was part of a broader diplomatic initiative, with nine other envoys being commissioned by President Akufo-Addo to represent Ghana’s interests on the global stage.

The President tasked the newly appointed diplomats, including Nana Bediatuo Asante, with strengthening Ghana’s bilateral relationships, attracting investment, and enhancing the country’s international reputation.

As the nation continues to monitor his health, the Presidency promises to keep the public informed of his condition as necessary.
