Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the newly approved Foreign Affairs Minister-designate, has expressed his readiness to serve Ghana following his successful approval by Parliament.
The North Tongu MP took to Facebook to thank his supporters and share his commitment to making a difference.
“Glory be to God for my successful parliamentary approval last night, which paves the way for me to become Ghana’s next Foreign Minister. I wish to express my sincerest gratitude to my formidable and patriotic NDC colleagues in Parliament,” he wrote.
“Deepest appreciation to the good people of Ghana and my family for your kind prayers and support. Now, let’s make President Mahama and Ghana proud. For God and Country. Ghana First.”
Ablakwa’s approval came after the Minority in Parliament abstained from the voting process, citing concerns over the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative and past controversies.
As the Minority refrained from voting, his confirmation was solely achieved through a voice vote. During the session, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin led the caucus in a symbolic gesture, asking for water to “wash their hands” of the approval process.
