In a dramatic twist during the ongoing ambulance case trial, Richard Jakpa, the third accused person, made startling allegations against the Attorney General (AG), implicating him in derogatory remarks and political manipulation.
Mr Jakpa claimed that during a conversation, the AG referred to people of Fante ethnicity as “cheap” and allegedly discussed plans to use money to secure the parliamentary seat of Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson once he is jailed.
These accusations surfaced during Jakpa’s testimony on Thursday, June 13, further intensifying the courtroom drama surrounding the high-profile case.
Mr Jakpa, a businessman embroiled in the ambulance procurement controversy, asserted that the AG’s comments were made in a conversation that touched upon various political strategies and maneuvers.
The allegations immediately sparked controversy and outcry, with implications reaching beyond the courtroom.
The remarks attributed to the AG not only allege derogatory attitudes towards a specific ethnic group but also suggest a potential misuse of legal processes for political gain.
In response to Jakpa’s testimony, representatives from Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson’s legal team have indicated their intention to further scrutinise the audio evidence and statements provided by Jakpa.
They emphasised the significance of these allegations in relation to the ongoing trial, particularly concerning the conduct and impartiality expected from legal authorities.
