Unprecedented heavy traffic congestion gripped the Kasoa stretch on Monday, May 13, following a downpour around 4 p.m.
The influx of vehicles found it difficult to navigate through the roads due to blockages caused by silt and debris washed onto the streets by the rain. This situation particularly affected areas around SCC and Old Barrier, leading to significant delays for commuters.
Social media users reported that the flooding prompted vehicles traveling from Kasoa to Mallam to encroach upon lanes designated for opposite-bound traffic. This adjustment exacerbated the congestion, especially for drivers heading to the Central and Western Regions.
As the gridlock persisted for over 9 hours, heavy-duty truck operators bound for the Central and Western Regions were compelled to park until the traffic subsided.
