Kwesi Nyantakyi, the former President of the Ghana Football Association and current contestant in the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primary in the Ejisu Constituency, has been hospitalized.
A source from his campaign team confirmed to Citi News that Mr. Nyantakyi experienced stomach pain on Friday night and was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment.
The source suggested that his illness may have been due to not eating all day, given his busy schedule leading up to Saturday’s polls, which included a planned meeting with delegates.
He was admitted to the Legacy Hospital in Asokore Mampong for treatment, where he has been since Friday evening.
A total of 1,081 delegates will decide the fate of nine aspirants seeking to represent the New Patriotic Party in the upcoming by-election in the Ejisu Constituency.
The party’s parliamentary primary is being held to select a candidate following the passing of the Member of Parliament for Ejisu, John Ampontuah Kumah.
Campaign activities have been intense throughout the week as aspirants engage with delegates to secure their votes.
The party is reminding both aspirants and delegates to adhere strictly to the election guidelines and is reiterating calls for aspirants not to camp delegates.
