NPP wins back 7 constituencies after recollation

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reclaimed seven parliamentary seats following a re-collation of election results in nine disputed constituencies conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC).

The exercise, held under the directive of the Accra High Court, affirmed the NPP’s dominance in the affected areas and was carried out under tight security at the EC’s Greater Accra Regional Office.

The constituencies won by the NPP are as follows:

  1. Obuasi East (Ashanti Region): Patrick Boakye-Yiadom (NPP) narrowly defeated Samuel Aboagye (NDC) with 18,558 votes to 18,539 votes.
  2. Nsawam-Adoagyiri (Eastern Region): Frank Annoh-Dompreh (NPP) emerged victorious with 29,640 votes, beating Philibert Fummey (NDC), who garnered 29,433 votes.
  3. Tema Central (Greater Accra Region): Charles Forson (NPP) claimed victory with 18,870 votes against Ebi Bright (NDC), who polled 18,815 votes.
  4. Ahafo Ano North (Ashanti Region): Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh (NPP) retained his seat with 20,353 votes, defeating Kwasi Adusei (NDC), who secured 20,232 votes.
  5. Okaikwei Central (Greater Accra Region): Patrick Yaw Boamah (NPP) retained his seat with 21,099 votes, beating Abdulai Abu Baba Abubakar Sadiq (NDC), who polled 19,368 votes.
  6. Ahafo Ano South West (Ashanti Region): Elvis Osei Dapaah (NPP) won with 16,058 votes, ahead of Abubakar Sadiq (NDC), who secured 15,372 votes.
  7. Techiman South (Bono East Region): Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah (NPP) retained his seat with 46,663 votes, defeating Christopher Beyere (NDC), who garnered 43,429 votes.

The re-collation process was ordered to resolve disputes surrounding the December election results in these constituencies. The EC has yet to finalize the results for the remaining two areas.

This development bolsters the NPP’s parliamentary strength, reaffirming its position in key constituencies previously under contention.
