Stringent security measures to be implemented at collation centres

The Ghana Police Service has announced the rollout of strict security measures at collation centres across the country as the electoral process advances to the counting and collation of results phases.

In a statement issued in collaboration with the Electoral Commission (EC), the Police outlined measures designed to ensure order, security, and transparency during the collation process. Access to the centres will be limited to accredited individuals, including the media, candidates and their agents, election observers, and other groups approved by the EC.

“All persons entering collation centres will be screened, and unauthorized vehicles will not be allowed on the premises,” the statement emphasized. It further added that motorbikes will be banned within 100 metres of all collation centres to prevent any potential disruptions.

The Police noted that these arrangements are in line with standard practices during Presidential and Parliamentary elections and urged all stakeholders to fully comply to maintain peace and order throughout the process.
