The Ministry of National Security has responded to allegations by the Herald Newspaper that operatives from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) were involved in the recent disappearance of Sylvia Patience Baah, Airport Services Manager for Emirates Airlines at Kotoka International Airport.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry firmly denied the claims, stating, “No officer from the Ministry or the National Intelligence Bureau was involved in the alleged abduction of Sylvia Baah.”
The Herald had alleged that Sylvia Baah was abducted on Thursday, November 21, by National Security and NIB operatives after she reportedly deboarded some officers for arriving late for a flight.
The Ministry has launched an investigation into the matter and assured the public that any culprits identified will face legal action. “The public is, therefore, urged to treat the allegation by the Herald Newspaper with the contempt it deserves,” the statement concluded.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service announced on Sunday the successful rescue of Sylvia Baah, who was reportedly abducted outside her residence in Accra. She has been reunited with her family, and a full-scale investigation is underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
In a statement, the Police expressed gratitude to the public for their assistance. “We thank all those who provided information during the rescue operations and the general public for their support and collaboration,” the statement read.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has met with Sylvia Baah and her family, who are reportedly in good spirits. To aid their recovery, a team of police medical officers and clinical psychologists has been assigned to assist.
Efforts to track down the suspects continue, with the Police affirming their commitment to ensuring justice. “We are continuing our search for the perpetrators and remain determined to bring them to justice,” they added.
