Mfantsipim School has been crowned the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) champions, ending a nine-year drought with a thrilling one-point victory over rivals St. Augustine’s College.

In an intense final round at the Accra International Conference Centre, Mfantsipim finished with 47 points, edging out St. Augustine’s College, who ended with 46 points, while Keta Senior High Technical School placed third with 32 points.

The competition was fiercely contested from the start. After an even 24-24 score between Mfantsipim and St. Augustine’s at the end of Round 1, St. Augustine’s took the lead in the second round with 34 points, followed closely by Mfantsipim at 31.

Round 3’s Problem of the Day kept tensions high, but Mfantsipim rallied in the final rounds, narrowing the gap before taking a last-minute lead.

This win marks Mfantsipim’s third NSMQ title, having previously won in 1999 and 2014, and reinforces their legacy as a powerhouse in science and mathematics education.
