Health Ministry’s report on death of ‘abandoned’ patient at Ojobi

The Ministry of Health has published its findings on the unfortunate death of an elderly patient who was abandoned after being transferred from the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba to Gomoa Ojobi.

Investigations conducted by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) revealed that hospital officials involved in the planning and execution of the patient’s transfer failed to act appropriately, leading to her abandonment.

The Ministry has expressed its concern over the incident and has referred the case to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Attorney General’s Department for further investigation due to the loss of life.

In addition to these measures, the Ministry has endorsed internal disciplinary actions against the staff involved and has pledged to uphold the highest standards in healthcare service delivery.

The full report can be accessed on the Ministry’s website.
