The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially conducted the draw for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying series.
The tournament is set to kick off on December 21, 2025, and conclude on January 18, 2026, in Morocco.
Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars, will begin their quest for an 11th consecutive AFCON appearance in September 2024. Placed in Group F, Ghana will compete against Sudan, now managed by former Ghana captain and coach Kwasi Appiah, as well as Angola and Nigeria.
The defending champions, Cote d’Ivoire, have been drawn in Group G, where they will face Zambia, Sierra Leone, and Chad. Meanwhile, Nigeria, the 2023 AFCON silver medalists, will be competing in Group I alongside Benin, Libya, and Rwanda.
The 2021 AFCON champions, Senegal, find themselves in Group L, where they will battle against Burkina Faso, Malawi, and Burundi. Host nation Morocco has been placed in Group B, sharing the group with Gabon, the Central African Republic, and Lesotho.
Additionally, the 2019 AFCON winners, Algeria, are in Group E, where they will face Equatorial Guinea, Togo, and Liberia.
As the countdown to the 2025 AFCON begins, teams across the continent are gearing up for a competitive and thrilling qualification series, with hopes of securing a spot in Morocco for the prestigious tournament.
