The Chefs Association of Ghana has disclaimed Chef Smith, stating that he is not a registered member of their organization.
This revelation comes amidst controversy surrounding Chef Smith’s claim of a world title following a cook-a-thon challenge.
In a statement to the media, Peter Agbovi, the General Secretary of the Chefs Association of Ghana, clarified the association’s stance.
“You can call him a chef because he is a professional, but he is not a registered member of the Chefs Association of Ghana,” Agbovi affirmed.
Agbovi explained that the association first learned of Chef Smith’s cook-a-thon through social media, where they noticed their logo displayed on his attire.
This raised concerns as attempts to engage Chef Smith in registering as a member were unsuccessful, leading to his non-representation on the association’s platform.
Regarding the controversy surrounding Chef Smith’s alleged Guinness World Record, Agbovi expressed disappointment.
“It’s unfortunate that it’s a fake Guinness World Records certificate. Once you are a qualified chef, we give you respect,” he lamented during an interview on GhOne.
Agbovi emphasized the association’s position that under the current circumstances, Chef Smith cannot claim affiliation with their organization.
He stressed the importance of proper registration and adherence to guidelines for culinary professionals aspiring to achieve significant feats, ensuring authenticity and credibility within the culinary community.
