Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has issued a response to defamation lawsuits brought against him by former NPP Chairman Freddie Blay and his son, Kwame Blay, accusing him of falsely implicating them in the alleged theft of state property.
In a statement shared on social media, Ablakwa expressed his reaction to the legal actions initiated against him, taking a swipe at the timing of the lawsuits following weeks of threats.
“They say better late than never — even though I am yet to be served, this is great news after many weeks of countless threats,” Ablakwa asserted in his post.
His remarks hinted at the ongoing controversy over the beachfront of the Labadi Beach Hotel, indicating his readiness to contest the allegations in court.

“The battle to reclaim Labadi Beach Hotel’s beachfront just got exciting. Justice does not always belong to those who are first to seek refuge in the courts — if you doubt this, ask the double identity champion,” he added defiantly.
Undeterred by the legal challenges, Ablakwa remained resolute, proclaiming, “No matter the intimidation theatrics, State Capture shall surely be defeated!”
In Kwame Blay’s lawsuit targeting Ablakwa, he vehemently denied any involvement in the alleged land theft or schemes against individuals associated with his brother’s businesses. He emphasized the severe impact of Ablakwa’s allegations on his business operations and personal reputation.
Meanwhile, Freddie Blay’s legal action extended beyond Ablakwa to include Media General and journalist Johnnie Hughes as additional defendants. Freddie Blay accused Ablakwa of making malicious claims aimed at tarnishing his long-standing reputation, particularly considering the timing in proximity to elections.
He further alleged that Media General and Johnnie Hughes exacerbated the damage by broadcasting these false accusations as factual, amplifying the harm to his reputation.
