Nurein Shiabu Migyimah, the embattled Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Assin Central, remains steadfast in his assertion of innocence amidst allegations that led to his suspension from the party.
The Central Regional Secretariat of the NDC recently withdrew Migyimah’s candidacy for the upcoming 2024 general elections, citing moral grounds and accusations of anti-party conduct.
In an interview with Joy News’ Blessed Sogah, Migyimah expressed unwavering confidence in clearing his name through the party’s internal processes.
“I believe, and I know whatever allegation, anything they’ve said or whatever it is, after I go through the right party structures, I’ll be vindicated,” he affirmed.
His optimism extended to the electoral contest, confidently stating, “God willing, ‘Inshallah’, on December 7, I’m going to win the election.”
Despite the suspension and the purported formal notice from the Central Regional NDC, Migyimah disclosed that he has yet to receive detailed documentation outlining the specific charges against him.
He vehemently denied engaging in any “immoral acts and anti-party conduct,” which the party has referenced in its deliberations leading to his suspension.
The Assin Central constituency, currently represented by New Patriotic Party’s Kennedy Agyapong, witnessed a closely contested race in the previous election.
Migyimah secured 14,747 votes, constituting 42.74% of the total, against Agyapong’s 19,754 votes, which amounted to 57.26%.
