A 5,000-seater multipurpose stadium, constructed by the Government of Ghana in the Ashanti Region, has been left to deteriorate since its inauguration in 2020.
This neglect was recently exposed by sports journalist Saddick Adams, who visited the site and found the facility in a state of disrepair.
The stadium, which was opened just a week before the 2020 elections, has never been utilized for any major events or opened to the public.
Despite its potential to host various sporting and cultural activities, it sits abandoned, surrounded by overgrown vegetation and showing signs of neglect.
This revelation has sparked concerns about the government’s commitment to developing sports infrastructure in the region.
Saddick Adams expressed frustration over the government’s decision to rent a private training facility for the Black Stars before their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic, instead of utilizing the stadium.
The Government of Ghana invested around 40 million in constructing a 5,000 seater multipurpose stadium in the Ashanti Region. It was inaugurated a week before 2020 elections.
It has never been opened again. Our team visited the site and it’s been left to rot in the bush.
