Manchester United have claimed the FA Cup for the 13th time in the club’s history, defeating Manchester City 2-1 in the 2024 final at Wembley Stadium.
This victory secures the Reds a spot in the Europa League next season, marking their first triumph in English football’s most prestigious knockout competition since 2016.
United took control of the match with first-half goals from two Academy graduates, Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, in the 30th and 39th minutes respectively.
Despite City substitute Jeremy Doku pulling one back for the Premier League champions in the 87th minute, Erik ten Hag’s men defended valiantly for the remainder of the game, securing a victory that many pundits had deemed unlikely in the build-up.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe said: “It is a glorious feeling to win the FA Cup final at Wembley. Manchester United clearly were not the favourites to win today but they played with total commitment and skill and overcame one of the great teams in football. We are all very proud of the players and the staff who work tirelessly to support them.”
Erik ten Hag commented: “After a year with so many setbacks and injuries, the team showed so much resilience and I am so proud of them. I am proud of the fans too. They are incredible. We have the best fans in the world.”
Bruno Fernandes held the FA Cup aloft as United captain and said afterwards: “It was our last chance to get something positive from the season.
“Last year, we were not good enough go up the stairs and lift the trophy, so we had to see them doing that. This season is the other way around.
“We had to suffer, we had to sacrifice, but we also had to put some quality into the game. And we did great things.”
