In the early hours of Monday, April 29, the Ghana Meteorological Agency issued a warning regarding a moderate-to-heavy rainstorm originating from the northern parts of Benin.
This storm was forecast to move westward, affecting areas within the Northern Sector of Ghana.
However, localized developments of thunder and rain-bearing clouds were observed over the transition and forest belts, including the Ahafo, Bono, Ashanti, and Bono East regions.
These developments resulted in thunderstorms and varying intensity of rainfall. Moderate to strong winds were also anticipated to accompany the rainstorm.
By 7 am, the rainstorm had extended over the eastern flanks of the country, bringing scattered to widespread thunderstorms and rainfall.
The storm was expected to continue its westward movement, affecting the western parts of the country later in the morning.
Given the likelihood of moderate to strong winds within the forest belt, precautionary measures were advised to ensure the safety of residents and property.
