Leaders Leicester missed the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the Championship as they suffered a surprising 1-0 defeat away to relegation-threatened Plymouth, courtesy of Mustapha Bundu’s 21st-minute winner.
Second-placed Ipswich remains level on points with Leicester, while Leeds sits one point further back ahead of their upcoming games on Saturday, with all three clubs having four matches left.
Despite being without a manager, Plymouth climbed to 16th place after securing their first home win in seven matches under the caretaker management team of director of football Neil Dewsnip and first-team coach Kevin Nancekivell, now sitting five points clear of the relegation zone.
Leicester had an early chance as Abdul Fatawu’s powerful shot forced Plymouth goalkeeper Michael Cooper into a diving save. Ricardo Pereira also tested Cooper with a close-range effort, but the goalkeeper managed to parry the ball away.
Plymouth stunned Leicester with a counter-attacking goal in the 21st minute, as Mustapha Bundu’s fierce shot found the back of the net.
Despite dominating possession, Leicester struggled to find an equalizer. Plymouth’s defense held firm, with Cooper making several crucial saves to deny Leicester’s attempts on goal.
As the game progressed, Leicester continued to push for an equalizer, with substitute Jamie Vardy coming close to scoring in the closing minutes. However, Plymouth held on for a vital victory.
