The Nkwanta South Municipal Police Command has apprehended Abdul Majeed, a 27-year-old man, for impersonating a military officer in the area.
According to reports, the suspect assumed the false identity of a soldier and visited a local chop bar in town after hiring a commercial motorbike rider (okada) for an extended period.
However, upon reaching his destination, the suspect refused to compensate the rider, using his fabricated military status to intimidate him. This led to a physical altercation between them.
Following an inquiry by military personnel in the vicinity, it was discovered that the suspect had no association with the Ghana Armed Forces but had been masquerading as a soldier to command respect and authority in the area.
The impostor was subjected to military drills as a consequence of his deception before being handed over to the Police for further investigation and prosecution. Abdul Majeed currently faces charges of impersonation and fraud.
