Nigerian cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been sentenced to six months in jail with no option of a fine.
Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos delivered the judgment on Friday morning, April 12.
The sentence was imposed after Bobrisky pleaded guilty to a four-count charge of Naira abuse brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The charges stemmed from an incident where Bobrisky was seen spraying money at the premiere of a film in Lagos.
This development mirrors a similar case earlier in the year when actress Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin was also sentenced to six months in prison for similar actions involving the abuse of new naira notes.
The video of Bobrisky’s actions at the film premiere was widely circulated on social media, possibly contributing to the authorities’ decision to take legal action.\
