Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Energy Minister, has responded to concerns about the recent power supply disruptions in Ghana.
He dismissed calls for a load-shedding timetable, stating that those making such requests are wishing harm on the country.
He emphasized that there is no need for a timetable, especially since the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has not indicated such a necessity.
“Let those who want the timetable bring it. What do you mean? I don’t know of any timetable because the ECG has said it is not necessary. Why would someone just wish evil for the country?” he asked.
Recent weeks have seen interruptions in electricity supply in various areas of Ghana, causing dissatisfaction among citizens with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
According to the Energy Minister, work is ongoing to ensure the issues surrounding the provision of power supply are optimal.

Despite the outage, ECG has refrained from labeling the situation as “dumsor,” attributing it instead to maintenance issues.
However, the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has issued directives, including a request for ECG to submit a comprehensive load management timetable by April 2, in response to the recent power supply disruptions.
Presently, some Ghanaians are chastising the Energy Minister for his recent comment.
