Cristiano Ronaldo is under scrutiny for what seems to be an inappropriate gesture during a recent football match in Saudi Arabia.
The 39-year-old Portuguese star, who plays for Saudi Pro League team Al-Nassr, scored a penalty in their 3-2 victory over Al Shabab on Sunday.
After the game, Ronaldo was seen on video cupping his ear and making a repeated motion near his pelvic area. The gesture appeared to be aimed at Al Shabab’s supporters, who were reportedly chanting the name of his longtime football rival, Lionel Messi.
Although the incident was not broadcasted, fans inside the stadium captured it on video and shared it on social media.
The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) has initiated an investigation into the matter, as reported by Saudi newspaper Asharq al-Awsat.
Waleed Al Farraj, a prominent Saudi writer and television host, said on X: “The disciplinary committee is facing the biggest test. We will wait and see.
“Everything has its limits, no matter how famous you are. This is how the major leagues are.”
