The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has announced the approval of a new cement type, MASONRY CEMENT TYPE M, for the Ghanaian market.
This development is expected to bring significant benefits to the building and construction industry in the country.
According to the GSA, the newly approved cement type adheres to the Ghana Standard for Masonry Cement Type M, GS C91/C91 M 2018, which is in line with international standards.
This innovation marks a step forward in Ghana’s efforts to produce environmentally sustainable products with a lower carbon footprint.
GHACEM LIMITED has become the first company to receive certification for the production and sale of MASONRY CEMENT TYPE M in Ghana. Their product, GHACEM SUPERPLAST MASONRY CEMENT TYPE M, will now be available to consumers in the market.
It’s important to note that MASONRY CEMENT TYPE M is specifically designed for plastering and laying of blocks, and should not be used for concrete and structural work. The GSA emphasizes the exclusive use of this cement type for its intended purposes to ensure safety and quality in construction projects.

Prof. Alex Dodoo, the Director General of the GSA, affirmed the authority’s commitment to upholding standards and promoting innovation in the construction industry.
