Manchester City is set to host Chelsea in the semi-finals of the Conti Cup, setting the stage for a rematch of the 2022 final.
The two powerhouses, currently positioned second and first in the Women’s Super League respectively, will battle it out for a spot in the final at Molineux in March.
In the other semi-final, Aston Villa will face the victors of the rescheduled match between London City Lionesses and Arsenal.
Chelsea demonstrated their dominance in the quarter-finals with an impressive 5-0 victory over Sunderland, highlighted by braces from Sjoeke Nusken and Fran Kirby. Aggie Beever-Jones contributed the other goal as the Blues continued their pursuit of silverware under the leadership of Emma Hayes, with the possibility of a Quadruple still within reach.
Meanwhile, Manchester City secured their spot in the final four with a narrow 1-0 win over Tottenham, courtesy of a goal from Yui Hasegawa.
Aston Villa earned their place in the semi-finals with a penalty shootout victory against Brighton after a 1-1 draw in regular time.
The match between London City Lionesses and Arsenal was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and is scheduled to take place on Wednesday.
With City, Arsenal, and Chelsea dominating the competition’s history, no other team has emerged victorious in the previous 12 editions.
The semi-final matches are slated for March 6 and 7, with the final scheduled to be held at Wolves’ home ground on March 31.
