$10k offered as reward for information on whereabout of UnitedHealthcare CEO’s killer

Brian Thompson, the Chief Executive Officer of UnitedHealthcare, was tragically killed in a shooting on Wednesday morning in midtown Manhattan.

The incident occurred as he was heading to his company’s annual investor conference, CNN reports.

Authorities reveal that the assailant waited approximately 10 minutes for Thompson to arrive before firing multiple shots from a distance of about 20 feet. The 50-year-old executive was struck in the chest and transported to Mount Sinai West in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the New York Police Department (NYPD).

The shooter remains at large, and authorities have announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.

Thompson had served as CEO of UnitedHealthcare, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group, since April 2021. UnitedHealth Group, which ranks fifth on the Fortune 500 list, halted its investor conference following the incident, citing “a very serious medical situation with one of our team members.”

The company has not yet released additional statements regarding the tragedy. Investigations into the shooting are ongoing.
